Dust Collector Types Compared

Type Description Usage Applications
Cyclone (CY Series)
A round vertical separator consisting of a cylinder with tangential dirty air inlet and lower cone section that centrifugally spins the dust particles downwards and allows the relatively clean air to exit from the tip. 
 For production or non-production uses.  Woodworking, Metalworking, Plastics, Rubber, Large or coarse particles
 
Shaker Filter Bag (DG, DS, DK, DM Series)
A rectangular enclosure with semi-permanent multi-pocket filter that contain the dust particle, but allow the celan air to pass through the top mounted section fan.  Filters are cleaned manually or automatically after the fan is off. 
 For non-production use.  Woodworking, Metalworking, Plastics, Jewelry Polishing, Dental Labs, Fine Particles
 
Enclosureless Filter Bag (PPO Series)
A fan blows the dusty air into a rectangular plenum with top mounted open filter tubes that contain the dust particles, but allows the clean air to pass through.  Dust particles fall to bottom, into plastic bags. 
 For production or non-production uses.  Woodworking
 
Jet Pulse (SPV, SPH, & CCP Series)
A rectangular enclosure, sometimes referred to as a bag house, that contains semi permanent pleated filter cartridges or smooth filter tubes that contain the dust particles, but allows clean air to pass through the top or ground mounted suction fan.  Filters are cleaned by bursts of compressed air while unit is operating. 
 For production use.  Woodworking, Metalworking, Chemical, Pharmaceuticals
 
Down Draft Bench (DDB Series)
A work bench with grating top & enclosed filters and fan below.  Typically used for hand grinding or sanding.  Downward suction through the grating contains the dust. 
 For production or non-production uses.  Metalworking, Plastics
 
Mist Collector (MA Series)
A rectangular enclosure with semi permanent filters that contain oil mist coolant over spray.  Dirty air is drawn into the inlet.  Clean air passes through the filter.  Oil drains from the bottom. 
For production or non-production uses.  Milling, Drilling, Boring
